Good Friday Fasting Guide
"He was pierced for our transgressions..." – Isaiah 53:5
Join us as we fast together on Good Friday to remember Christ’s sacrifice, seek God in prayer, and prepare our hearts for Resurrection Sunday.
🙏 Why Fast on Good Friday?
Fasting is a way to:
Remember the suffering and death of Jesus
Create space to pray, read Scripture, and worship
Replace physical hunger with spiritual hunger
Deepen your longing for God and dependence on Him
“When you fast, do not look somber…” (Matthew 6:16-18)
Jesus expected His followers to fast—not to earn favor with God, but to draw closer to Him.
📅 What Kind of Fast Are We Doing?
We are encouraging a one-day food fast from sunrise to sunset (or a full 24 hours if you're able). You may choose:
Water-only Fast
Liquids-only Fast (broth, smoothies, or juices)
Modified Fast (skipping two meals, or fasting from solid food only)
Alternative Fast (if you’re unable to fast from food: fast from media, entertainment, or another comfort)
🩺 Is It Safe to Fast?
Yes—for most healthy adults, a one-day fast is safe. But please do not fast from food if:
You’re pregnant or nursing
You’re under 16 (ask a parent to help decide)
You have diabetes, eating disorders, or health conditions that require regular food intake
Always consult your doctor if you’re unsure.
