"For God so loved the world that he gave his one
and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life."
John 3:16, NIV
What
must someone do to be saved?
Admit
that you have sinned by disobeying God.
"...for all have
sinned and fall short of the glory of God..." Romans 3:23, NIV
Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins.
"For the wages of sin is death..." Romans 6:23a, NIV
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8, NIV
Confess
that Jesus is risen and your personal "Lord."
"That
if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you
will be saved." Romans 10:9, NIV
A simple prayer can help you speak "with your mouth"
the faith that is in your heart. If you are ready to make this commitment to follow Jesus as your "Lord" (boss,
master), you can use this sample prayer to help you:
"Dear Lord Jesus, I am a sinner.
I believe you died on the cross for my sins. I ask you to forgive me and save me. I confess that you are alive
and I make you the Lord of my life. I will follow you from now on. Thank you for saving me and help me to live
for you."
